Monday January 29th, 2017
well, The rest of our district is tired and are scared of the lion park so they didn't want to go again this week.. that was disappointing...
However, we still had a really fun day. we went to Bethlehem to fix another flat tire. While we were there, we played rugby and Football(American) with the other Bethlehem guys! it was so much fun! Im exhausted! haha we just played 3on3 with Fullmer and Wilson. After that we went and had SPUR. Bennett has never eaten there so today he lost his Spurginity.

then we came back, emailed, and went to FHE! Allotment isn't in yet so we couldn't do our shopping. Shame.

Tuesday January 30th, 2017
Started the day off hot. Went and taught a guy named Thomas. He's a Very Humble older gentlemen that had some good questions. We taught him about the restoration, and he really enjoyed it. He's excited to have the book of Mormon now so he can have ALL of the truth. the spirit was very strong with this guy:)

later we went and visited sister karabelo she told us that this week she went and she drank some alcohol then she broke down and cried. It was really sad.. she felt so bad! but we cheered her up,read some scriptures about the atonement, told her to knock it off, and helped encourage her to keep trying.

We also met the mother of these two kids that have been coming to church for the last couple months (I thought they were members). Branch president said he visited the family last week. She told him and us the same thing that she is "Giving us her kids." She wants them to be "... Part of you church so they get a better education and come to know God." We explained that that is a  very loving thing to do for her children, but the gospel of Jesus Christ is centered upon Families and how they can be "together forever". We invited her to come to church experience it for herself and to not only have her kids go to church but to all come to church as a family. She asked if she HAS TO GO if she wants her kids to come to this church, and we explained agency and the blessings that follow in a Christ centered home. that nobody is forced in any way to do anything, but if you know the message is true... well... if its true then what else matters?
After we explained this alongside the message of the restoration, she said that she will come to church and read the Book Of Mormon.

We visited a few other people, but Im tired of writing... so I'll tell you one more thing that happened today.
it was roughly 9:45PM, The wind was blowing, the rain was heavy, and Lighting was striking nearly every second. it was your typical scary movie setting. As we discussed our day in the kitchen our car alarm went off. Panic sunk deep in our heart. I silenced the car from the window... we continued our conversation, when nearly three minutes later, the car alarm went off again.. our adrenaline was pumping. doubts and questions filled my mind. I silenced the car a second time. Elder Bennett locked all the doors in the house. As we continued our conversation AGAIN the alarm went off, this happened a total of FIVE TIMES! Refusing to go outside to check the scene for fear of inescapable death. we went to the living room. Elder Hinnen explained that whoever is outside is trying to either lure us into a trap, or distract us with the car alarm as he sneaks in the back. While we were in the living room I sat closest to the garage door eating the most delicious cup of brownies, courtesy of the Slifka Family. we discussed our Tender mercies of the day when out of nowhere the garage door slowly creaked open! MY HEART ALMOST EXPLODED as I Instinctively raised my hot cup of brownies into a Defensive position, preparing myself for whomever was planning to approach me. I quickly realized that no amount of brownies could withstand a true Bosotho tsotsie! i turned to the rest of the room and Questioned Elder Bennett as to why he didn't lock that door.
we Resolved the conflict and decided to move our beds in to the farthest bedroom in the house. Thus, have a sleep over with Bluegumbosch Elders.

Wednesday January 31st, 2018
Well Today I had the opportunity to teach the lesson at our district development meeting... it went pretty well..

After DDM we went and visited sis Esther. Her son is serving a mission in Ghana right now. She said she knows the book of Mormon is true, the church is good, she feels good when she's there. However, she doesn't want to be baptized because we speak English and her other church is good too. She's still connected to her other church and doesn't want to break off just yet. She goes to the First Apostolic church of st john or something. Either way, we're just going to be patient and continue to teach her with love.
Lunch: Hot dogs.
he rest of the day was pretty usual, finished it off with the Mabula Family. we had an FHE and taught about miracles, and then played crazy 8's... Hinnen lost...

Thursday February 1st, 2017
Elder Hinnen and I were on exchanges today. He's a nice guy! haha very funny!
We started by doing a Media stand for a two hours or so. It was pretty fun actually. We parked our table in between the university and the ice cream machine at Bibi. it was pretty entertaining. we gave out a little over a hundred pamphlets, I hope some of those guys will come to church. We met some nice people, I also met a father and his son... His son had recently joined a new church, in his church they worship church. the father asked if we can cast out his sons evil spirits... I told him to come to church and talk to branch president. we exchanged information as I tried not to make Eye contact with his son, who stood there with a dark expressionless face.
But my highlight of the day was meeting with Flair, who just got back from work. He was one of the guys that just SHOWED up to church two weeks ago. He is literally 2 meters tall. he's a big guy! I felt like a baby, which was strange considering I'm generally taller than most south Africans. None the less, he was super excited to meet with us, he even bought us some Coke! He also told us he has a lot of friends that he wants to introduce us to:) Im excited to meet them.

weekly planning, lessons, lessons, and more lessons. we got to sit down and teach Leratos friends hope today... she has some interesting views about Jesus. she told us a story of how Christ killed someone. Also, that his apostles were wizards and they are the ones that killed Jesus. we politely corrected some of that doctrine and showed her scriptures to help answer and clarify her questions. We also explained the apostles didn't kill Jesus, she was confused because Judas betrayed Jesus and all that... Either way, it was pretty interesting that one, glad we got it all cleared up! haha

Saturday Feb 3rd
Well we had a good lesson with Thebiso, then the rest of th day was rough. we ended up filling in and teaching Seminary at 2:00, then we had choir practice! yeah Im in the choir now. bennetts gonna play the violin with us next Sunday.. it'll be nice!

Sunday February 4th
TODAY WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!! Our work is paying off!! so far our investigators have been COMING TO CHURCH! which is very convenient when your teaching them. we also had 3 people come to church for the very first time.. two of them came because of the media stand that we did! the third was  a girl named Mpho. After an FHE a few weeks ago we were leaving the chapel and a girl was walking down the street and she waved at us. As she did so I was standing next to TK and he turned to me and told me he's had a HUGEEE Crush on her for like three years... so I was like... well lets invite her to church. so I kinda yelled at her as she was walking away and told her she should come to church! she said she'd come.... aaaaannnndd this week she came! It was nice, she Even joined the  Choir! The only downside is that sister Lerato is going to need to be interviews for baptism by mission president because of some stuff that happened like 20 years ago.. no worries though, she understands :)
but we had a lot of fun after church as well, we taught Refilwe again. Her and her daughter went away on vacation so we just need to just help her remember everything that she's been taught then she can be baptized on the 28th:) sadly, I probably won't be here!
after that we took TK teaching... he was Soooo excited the Mpho came to church! haha but my favorite activity was playing Catch in between appointments with the football you guys sent me for christmas:))  a ton of kids came and played with us, it quickly turned into rugby... haha

also, I decided my first Born son will be named.... Drum roll please..... Mason Habashwe Merritt. lol

Adieu
